Designing Interactive Systems: Across the spectrum (August 1-4, 2004 - Cambridge, MA, USA)
"DIS2004 aims to facilitate, nurture and encourage the growth of a new community. This community has emerged in response to the opportunities and challenges presented by new and future interactive systems. (...) DIS2004 will embrace the diversity of interests in this new community, crossing the spectrum of contributing disciplines including business, technology and engineering, psychology, interaction, design, expressive media and culture. DIS2004 is a step towards achieving a fusion of art and science, the white light of a spinning colour wheel. In the same way that works of art are produced from a palette of paints, interactive systems are created through the work of a ‘palette’ of specialists. The role of design is spread across a spectrum of disciplines, each providing their own knowledge and techniques. Designers of interactive systems work with and through a medium of technical arts blending and exploring synergies from diverse areas."
